MISSION & PURPOSE
“And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers . . .”
-Malachi 4:6
A heart turned towards God is our most basic need. It’s more fundamental than the air we breathe, more satisfying than the food we eat or water we drink. The God-facing heart was man’s dignity in creation. It gave him purpose and joy, confidence and perseverance. All of this was fractured by sin, and Jesus came to restore what was broken, to turn twisted hearts back toward the God who was always revealing himself to be a good Father, and he did just that. Jesus made a way. He made a way back to the Father and restored the relationship through which all of life finds its beginning and end.
Why then, do so many men, Christian men, even, still struggle to find purpose? Why do they wrestle with meaninglessness, wondering if they matter or if their lives count for anything? Why are they insecure as husbands, fathers, workers?
Malfour emerged from the tension of these questions and others like them. We realized that men need time and space to ask life’s chief questions and then wait for answers. And, we determined that most men simply won’t take time to ask and seek without a little help. So why not go fishing?
Jesus liked to fish! Several of his disciples were fishermen. A few sermons and a handful of miracles happened on or around a boat. Jesus was even a fishing guide, if only for a moment, telling his disciples to cast their nets to a specific hole. But Jesus wasn’t concerned with the fishing as much as he was the fishermens’ hearts.
We, too, are concerned for the hearts of parents and long to see them flourish in their God-given identities as all of life’s questions find their answers in God the Father and through Jesus, whom He sent.
MISSION & PURPOSE
Malfour’s mission is to leverage the magnificence of creation in turning the hearts of people to their Heavenly Father, the God of creation. We do this by offering exceptional outdoor experiences and unique pastoral care to create a different pace in a different place so that when men leave, they do so with a different perspective.
To be clear, Malfour’s aim is guiding the hearts of men. Catching fish is a huge part of what we do, but far from the point.
We want to guide and minister to men in every stage and station in life: men who desperately need redemption and to be reconciled to the Father, dads called to reveal the heart and nature of the Father to their own children, pastors longing for rest and seeking restoration that only comes from the Father.
